What if you could combine world-class kitesurfing with some of the best diving in Southeast Asia, all in a quiet corner of the Philippines that most tourists never discover?

Welcome to Zamboanguita, a small coastal municipality on Negros Oriental, just 30 minutes from Dumaguete. While the Philippines has many kite spots, Zamboanguita stands out for its consistent conditions, wide safe beaches, and that rare combination of wind and world-class marine life.

Kitesurfing in Zamboanguita offers the best of both worlds: reliable Amihan winds for your kite sessions and legendary Apo Island just offshore for your rest days.

Wind Season and Conditions

The Amihan season runs from November to May, with January and February being the prime months. The area is considered one of the windiest in the Philippines, with a permanent breeze created by the natural relief of the surrounding islands.

Expect consistent 15-20 knot winds about 95% of the time during season. The wind is steady and reliable, perfect for building skills or enjoying long freeride sessions.

The Spots

The Cockpit: The main kitesurfing beach, featuring a broad flat-water expanse with side-shore wind during Amihan. It's perfect for both experienced riders seeking thrilling sessions and beginners learning the basics.

The wide beach provides excellent safety for launching and landing, while the exposed flat bay gives advanced riders plenty of room to explore.

Perfect for Learning

Zamboanguita has earned a reputation as the best place in Negros to learn kitesurfing. The combination of consistent wind, wide sandy beaches, and flat protected water creates ideal conditions for progression without the hazards found at more challenging spots.

Climate

The Philippines delivers warm tropical weather year-round, with average temperatures around 28°C. Expect hot, sunny days perfect for water sports—no wetsuit needed, ever.

Beyond Kitesurfing

When the wind takes a break, Apo Island awaits just offshore. This marine sanctuary offers world-class snorkeling and diving with colorful coral gardens and abundant marine life. It's the perfect complement to your kite sessions.

Local Tips

Fly into Dumaguete, which has connections to Manila and Cebu. The local kite school (Kite in Negros) can arrange airport transfers and accommodation. Book your Apo Island trip in advance during peak season, and don't miss the fresh seafood at the local beach restaurants after your sessions.
